Version Support Policy

Providing Technical Support Based on the MITIGATOR Version

The status of MITIGATOR versions is indicated in the Version History list.

  • Actual – the latest released stable version (the first one in the “Version History” list):

    • technical support is available;
    • receives bug fixes;
    • may receive new functionality;
    • documentation is kept up to date;
    • testing is focused on this version.
  • Supported – two major versions prior to the actual one (the second and third in the “Version History” list):

    • technical support is available;
    • may receive bug fixes;
    • do not receive new functionality;
    • documentation is kept up to date;
    • bugs discovered during operation are reproduced on the actual version.
  • Unsupported – all other versions:

    • technical support consultations are available only for upgrading to an actual or supported version;
    • do not receive bug fixes;
    • do not receive new functionality;
    • documentation is not kept up to date;
    • bugs discovered during operation are not reproduced.

Consultations and Technical Support

Consultations are provided for the actual and supported versions. Consulting on unsupported versions generally boils down to assisting with the upgrade to actual or supported versions.

If updating from an unsupported version requires providing additional information, such as configuration files that are no longer stored on the site, it can be provided as part of a technical support request.

Documentation and Configuration File Retention

The website retains documentation and configuration examples for:

  • the actual version,
  • the four previous major versions.

For versions older than this period, materials may be removed or moved to an archive. The relevance of posted materials for older versions is not maintained, even if materials for them are still on the site.

Bug Fixes

Bugs are fixed in:

  • future major version – the standard path for bug fixes that do not block the normal operation of the actual version.
  • minors of the actual version – fixes for bugs discovered in the actual version that significantly affect functionality or user experience, as determined by the development team.
  • minors of the previous version – only in extreme necessity, for example, to release security patches.

New Functionality Release Policy

New MITIGATOR functionality is added to:

  • a future major version – the standard way to add features,
  • a minor release of the actual version – only in urgent necessity, for example to support an integration scenario, that is considered important by the development team.

Testing and Bug Reproduction

Bugs in actual and supported versions, information about which is received via technical support channels, are reproduced on the actual version. If the bug is not reproducible on the actual version, you will be suggested to update MITIGATOR.

Bugs in unsupported versions are generally not reproduced.
